Written by Marc on June 6th, 2008There are many ways to use relaxation for different kinds of people and circumstances, it can be used at home, at work, with students, in sports and also for group therapy. If you use it on a consistent basis you will experience a more happy life and more control over yourself.
Sometimes relaxation exercises for group therapy has been proven to be very useful especially in people with anxiety and stress problems. For example for people with social anxiety there are some therapy groups that get together each week or so and share their experiences of their life, how they are coming a long and how they overcome their problem.
A group therapy helps people become more comfortable sharing with each other and feeling that they are not alone and others experience the same problem. Many times those groups use relaxation exercises to overcome the different personal problems.
Although there are not proven studies of relaxation in group therapy you can use some of the effective methods like audio tapes that helps relax. The best way to do it would be to use audio tapes at the same time with deep breathing and physical relaxation or muscular relaxation.
Some experts suggest to stretch the muscles until they are tense and then relax them, that will help take the stress out of your body. You can use some of those techniques on a group and also imagery or visualization while hearing audios.
Relaxation has been used to relief many problems of the body like depression, insomnia, pain, high blood pressure, headache, arthritis and many more. Techniques like meditation use it to relax the body and balance it with the mind.
Its very common for students to become stressed in college for periods of time, students are trying to decided what carer they are going to study and work for the rest of their life, they are unsure of this and they also will experience new friends, teachers and ways of learning at school.
Its important that teachers show some relaxation techniques to college students so they can better manage themselves. Sometimes teachers dont have idea of how much pressure a college student can have, they need to learn new methods, finish the work of other classes, meet their class group, have a social life and get good grades.
This can create a lot of stress in some people and in some cases even get sick because of it, the pressure of tests and personal relationships problems can create a negative state of mind that can be reflected in the student results, so its important for them to apply some relaxation techniques.
There are different relaxation techniques that can be used, but lets see some of the most useful ones for college.
One of the most obvious relaxation techniques that many people overlook because they think that is just to get fit is exercise. Exercising is a way to make your body regain energies and relax from tension, you will feel much better and your brain more clear to continue with your daily activities.
Visualization is another technique that it can be very useful, sometimes is called imagery, but is basically the same. What you do is visualize in your mind images of things that you like, a place full of peace, happiness and calm, you can also imagine the smell or even an event of success.
Another way of relaxation is to use audio tapes, there are different kinds of audio relaxation music that you can buy in your favorite store, you can hear those tapes while sleeping or studying. Classical music is also known to be very useful to relax and concentrate the brain.
There are other types of relaxation like, deep breathing, physical relaxation techniques, self hypnosis, meditation, yoga and more. A college student needs to apply some simple techniques like the ones i described and you will feel much better.
